LeBron James of the Lakers is currently channeling his inner Steph Curry in the NBA In-Season Tournament Semis by showcasing his impressive 3-point skills against the Pelicans. Even at the age of 38, LeBron has achieved several firsts and is now determined to lead the Los Angeles Lakers to win the first-ever NBA Cup. However, this goal will require him to prove that he can still shoot accurately from beyond the arc, despite his career 3-point percentage of 34.5%.
In the semifinals of the NBA In-Season Tournament against the New Orleans Pelicans, James is channeling his inner Steph Curry, who is widely regarded as the greatest shooter in basketball history. He hit three consecutive shots from distance, impressing Spectrum SportsNet’s Mike Trudell, and scored 11 consecutive points to lead an 11-3 Lakers run that gave them control of the game. James’ scoring spree was not limited and even included a jump shot from the logo.
During the first half of the game, James and his team were leading by 13 points with a score of 67-54. James was the top scorer with 21 points, and he also made four assists. Taurean Prince was also impressive as he hit four out of six 3-point shots. On the other hand, Zion Williamson from the Pelicans team had a perfect record with nine points, but no one else on his team reached double digits in the first half.
Realistically, the LA team is not likely to win the NBA In-Season Tournament despite being a crowd favorite. They have faced multiple setbacks due to injuries sustained by essential team players, and they are keen on staying sharp for the regular 82-game season and a potential deep playoff run. It has been difficult to imagine the Lakers going all out in the tournament. Nevertheless, they have made it to Las Vegas and are just one win away from qualifying for the finals against the rising Indiana Pacers. Although LeBron James’ legacy is already established, he can join another elite club in his 21st season.
